I completely do not understand Paul Craig.

Paul Craig is the prototypical "Jiu-Jitsu guy with zero takedowns".

Amazing in the ground, garbage ability to get it there.

It really amazes me they disregard the takedowns and usually have shit striking on top of it. They need to train with dagestanis or something.

BTW do you like Phil Collins?

He's one of those guys who would've been a killer 20-30 years ago.

At this stage in the game he's just a solid journeyman.
Maybe if you go back 30 years but I think if you go back to the mid 00's to early 2010's he'd actually do quite a bit worse, LHW being significantly stronger then and having more high level sub grapplers in it.

The division being in decline I'd say explains why he's been able to remain a fairly big UFC name for years despite a rather one dimensional skill set.

it's not like he had great dominating performances and suddently started to lose: the guy has always been pretty stiff and unskilled outside of the ground.
if you look to the actual fights and not only at his resume you'll know that his performances are never impressive and that in a lot of his victories you have the feeling that the wrong guy (somewhat legitimately) won.

more like an exposed one trick pony that could still squeeze a W against some specific opponents.

Would be fun to see him against Dolidze for his next fight.

I really don't get it, Paul has been fighting for like 10 years and he still sticks his chin straight up in the air anytime he kicks or throws a punch. You can teach a beginner to keep their chin tucked in 4 months time just through drills and repetition, it's a mystery to me. Never mind the no wrestling, it's truly unbelievable that he doesn't know how to shoot a proper take down still to this day.

Lol @ Feldman.

The level of fighters in the UFC still baffles me sometimes. We had Potiera a clearly inferior physically fighter throwing a sloppy naked leg kick against a fast twitch freak like Pereira.. Like dude what are u doing?

For real though, "Bearjew" is a very unusual nickname for a Scottish submission specialist who is neither Jewish nor a bear.

He looks just like the farmer that was hiding the Jews under his floorboards that Hans Landa paid a visit to.

I think we may have to consider the possibility that Paul Craig just really likes getting punched in the face.

It's the paint or dye they use on the gloves. He likes it.

If they changed the gloves, I wonder if he would start slipping like Bobby Green?

Ryan Hall
Mackenzie Dern
Ben Askren
Demian Maia
Stephen Thompson

those are a few BJJ / Wrestling / Karate freaks who were / are rather one-dimensional. First 4 don't have much or any striking prowess, although Dern CAN bang quite hard, she really isn't a boxer.
Askren was fucking useless at striking and Ryan Hall will spend an entire fight spamming Imanari rolls and shooting endless takedown attempts.
Demian had wrestling and his striking was decent.
Hall Has decent striking. Good kicks. Wonderboy was one dimensional, yeah, but he developer good tdd and could survive on the ground

Not that amazing on the ground, the guys been subbed more than once, one being Jimmy Crute out of all people, lol. Brendan Allen is way better than Paul Craig on the ground.

He's more a very aggressive sub fighter than he is an overall technical master, does definitely take risks.

More in the mold of someone like Palhares than say Werdum, maybe not quite THAT aggressive although I think also not as physically gifted.

Paul Craig is the Michael Johnson of Lhw and Mw divisions.
Johnson is a good striker. Paul Craig is not that unusual, just a one dimensional grappler who got lucky in a couple fights.
