I completely do not understand Paul Craig.

He needs some better stand up coaches and wrestling coaches,.

Dudes an ace on the floor but ...a rank amateur on the feet he made several mortal sins , on Saturday and paid for it..

Its a shame because the guy has good genetics and body frame has all the physical tools but lacks more then a few skills ..

We’re just seeing what happens when a fighter does one thing amazingly well but does everything else badly. I’m not sure I recall another fighter whose spectrum of talent is so lopsided.

PS: this is a joke due to the Smith & Rockhold comments.

He won a lot of those fights due to his opponents having even worse fight IQ than him somehow and playing his game.

Don’t really think it’s fair to compare him to MJ though, as MJ has always possessed championship level skills where as Paul Craig certainly has not.

He should have spent that hair transplant money on some fucking karate lessons.

For real though, "Bearjew" is a very unusual nickname for a Scottish submission specialist who is neither Jewish nor a bear.
He should shorten it to just "The Jew" so it's just 50% as weird....

Its extra weird when he's all scotted up with the blue paint

He is just not athletic. He isn't going to get much better at striking. He is just one of those guys who can train in striking for many years and just not get decent at it. He is like old school BJJ fighters who can't strike or wrestle well. He would have killed it if he fought in Japan.

He wanted it on the ground so he spammed kicks but got KOed instead. He doesn't really hurt people with strikes unless they are late career Shogun. At least the toppish fighters.

His kicks did look good but he was mighty susceptible to getting punched out. His takedowns aren't the best but some of the best people he beat engaged him on the ground

He's a maverick on the ground but you gotta think his boxing and takedowns are lacking a little

The only person Craig ever outstruck was the ghost of Shogun and even then it was his grappling that won him that fight. He is plodding, unathletic, and a massive defensive liability... but his resume also reads like the Michael Johnson of the higher weight classes where he has that "X factor" to beat or lose to anyone on any given night. That being said, I think the book has been written on him and people have sort of figured him out. His durability is also getting progressively worse.

I think the UFC is no longer enamored with his novelty factor judging by the fact that they've thrown several nasty stylistic match-ups his way since going to 185. They're probably going to give him Robocop or something next, lmao. I always hoped we could see him fight Dolidze.

I always wanted to watch them roll since Craig moved down, it would've been epic. Seems like a matchup where the striker is almost as slow/uncoordinated as Craig himself lol, though it might become one of Dolidze's random knockout wins.

I suspect you're right suggesting he might be Robocop fodder. Phil Hawes vs Paul Craig would've been a good fight if they hadn't cut Hawes loose, but it was time for him to go

I wish he would improve his striking defense. It's probably not going to happen though. He's just too hot and cold. All of his UFC wins aside from the second Shogun fight have been performance of the night though which maybe that's on track to being some sort of record? Lol.
