Need something good to watch from any era. Maybe something that is easily overlooked but pretty good along the lines of Last Samurai, Space Truckers, Bubba Ho Tep, Bullet Train. Not unknown movies but ones you might watch or pay attention to, give them the nod then just not really get too hung up on them. One those films that maybe had their moment but weren't atg.

Master and Commander:
Equilibrium
Warriors
Edge of Tomorrow
District 9
Dragon Heart
Original Dungeons and Dragons flick

Gotti (1996)
If you like Goodfellas or The Sopranos, you'll like Gotti. a lot of familiar actors but also Armand Assante as John Gotti. The movie probably paints Gotti as a hero too much, but just take it as a good Mafia movie with great acting performances.

You can watch the whole movie for free on YouTube

Mindhunters 2004

With Val kilmer, Christian Slater and LL Cool J

Plot
-Trainees in the FBI's psychological profiling program must put their training into practice when they discover a killer in their midst.

Hard Boiled (1992)

Probably the supreme Hong Kong action movie by John Woo. If you don't mind reading subtitles, it's actually a good story too, with compelling characters. But the gunfights are what gave this movie legendary cult status. So over the top, bullets everywhere. there is a tracking shot that goes on for something like five minutes, just one continuous shootout.

Whole movie is on YouTube

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover
Drowning By Numbers
Kids (not sure if that counts as obscure)
I Shot Andy Warhol
Doom Generation

Thiss is a fun little post apocalyptic adventure with lots of wacky looking giant monsters and all kinds of action and explosions
It got dumped to streaming during the early days of the pandemic so most people never heard of it

I love this movie. I was looking for it a while ago but couldn't remember the name.

Romper Stomper (1992)

Russell Crowe's first leading role and he totally kills it, playing Hando - the leader of a bunch of neo-Nazi skinhead punks in Australia. Yes neo-Nazis are the hateful scum of the Earth, and the movie does not excuse or glamorize them, but dares to tell a story about them as people.

interesting but morbid trivia: The actor who played Davey (Hando's right-hand man) really did fall in obsessive love with the actress who played the girl, and he committed suicide after the movie was finished shooting.

Whole movie is on YouTube including the sex scenes (don't be a snitch and report it)
