Media Daniel Cormier goes off on Joaquin Buckley following McGregor callout

I don't think Buckley actually expected to get a McGregor fight, he simply wanted to get his name associated with Conor's for the media. And judging by DC's comments and this thread going 5 pages already, boy did he succeed.

Ps. DC is getting more and more obnoxious by the day.

I don't like Buckley, but Bisping, Sonnen and Cormier 3 of the biggest voices in the game?

Well, they kinda are though.

No it's not.

Unless you're autistic is obvious that Conor will never fight this guy. He probably literally doesn't even know who he is. There are about 100,000 people Conor would fight before this guy.
Yeah there is a zero percent chance of the fight happening. In terms of a realistic callout DC is right, it was ridiculous.

In the modern toxic media environment when any attention is rewarded, even if it's negative, msking a stupid, cringey, trashy, wildly unrealistic callout is just one more way to get attention.

Congratulations Joaquin Buckley, he is branching out. Now he is a double threat, professional MMA fighter and professional social media clown.

I agree. I wish people would ignore mcgregor.

He's like The highschool Quarterback that took the team to the championship back in 09'. Yes he was the shit back then, but now he's a department manager at home depot. Let it go.

He's not wrong. It was a stupid call out. Buckley beats a couple of unranked WW's and runs over an out of prime Luque and all of a sudden he's wanting Conor Mcgregor next. Knowing damn well he will not ever get that fight when instead he could have called out someone that would actually be a realistic option like Sean Brady or WB.

DC is not wrong, Buckley had a chance to springboard himself on the map with a realistic callout and instead he went full bozo and called out the most farfetched name he could think of.

Now he just looks like he’s meatriding Conor like the rest of the peasants calling him out begging for a handout.

Mid fighter, mid management.

That was a retarded call out. Buckley completely fucked up that opportunity after a real impressive win.

or you're just a UFC shill noob that goes along with everything they say and do. Most of us have been watching for ages and don't care for the WWE style BS they do now.

Are you so old you have completely forgotten about Pride FC or did you hate it the same as you hate UFC today? Pride literally originated from professional wrestling and modeled their production after it, focusing heavily on the entertainment, theatrics, drama, even predetermined outcomes. Nothing in UFC today or ever comes anywhere close to that "WWE style BS" and it is certainly nothing new. Do you remember Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Rampage Jackson?

The sport has gotten a lot bigger with a lot of guys out there that all blend together so stop hating on a guy like Buckley just trying to use that very valuable time after winning a fight the best he can to get his name out there and help his career.

Nah it was 100% wasted energy. imho should be calling for a title shot may not be there just yet but that is more likely and actually "worth a a punt" he could at least try to talk himself into a number one contender fight but instead he chose to polish Conrad's balls on national television.

In an alternate universe where the ufc played by the rules and awarded pay abd title shots based on merit, then you'd have a rock solid point.

But we don't live in that universe. The ufc has shown they don't give a fuck about the integrity of the rankings. It's hardly up to the fighters to legitimize the matchups by not being tempted to ask for the fights that pay tens of millions and catapult them into stardom.

Also, the fastest way to a number one contender spot is to do the same, to call out the big name and big money fights.

It's a sad reality but guys like DC complaining about this are just shilling for the ufc. The divisions are all jammed up from shitty short sighted matchmaking. It's not up to the fighters to sort this out by making sensible call outs.

You reap what you sow

Maybe this call out wasn’t as crazy as it first seemed;

Buckley’s point that Conor is fighting a LW at WW stands true
Conor would probably get KOd stiff by Buckley

Buckley got to publically call him out on being a clown and got tons of exposure at the same time, on the off chance it did trigger Conor enough he gets a money fight

Win, win

The look on Bisping’s shill face as the production team screamed in his ear piece to stop the interview alone was worth it

Man, that was 7 years ago.
<{walkerwhut}>

That was Tubby's MO back then: tweet a dumb take and threaten anyone who replies. Cody is one of many, and considering his personality and reputation in the business, it's hysterical that Cormier was trying to beef with him.

Yo Buckley got di track you aksed for glad we got dat collab in see you in church fam 🙏🏽☝🏽
