Keep it rollin.... Punk!

R.I.P. Austin, Texas punk legend Gary Floyd, lead singer of The Dicks. I think I first heard The Dicks on a Rock Against Reagan compilation cassette tape when I was in jr. high. I've had a handful of interactions with Gary over the years, he was always kind.

Probably best known for this song covered by Mudhoney

At one point, some right wing group paid some skinheads from California to travel to Austin to disrupt a Dicks show. It didn't end well for the skinheads. You don't fuck with Texas punk. The Butthole Surfers wrote a song about him:

I could have a real good time if I had a gun
I know, well I know, the things I'd do and say
And if I did not have no gun well I know, I know
I've got a knife (well, I've got a knife)

Well, Gary Floyd and all his pals are gonna come on down
To the roundaround. They're gonna shoot all day

Hardcore.... not far away from punk, early D.R.I.

Amazing punk thread folks. The Shermanos covered the entire catalogue. Nothing left to post.....

I'll put this down as an obscure Canadian outfit from Guelph, I remember from college.

Follow the link and download their album! 5 songs, pretty awesome

Another Canadian legend...bit of a fitting track given the current climate in the middle-east.
