Marvel's new X-Men reboot will be "Female Centric"

Since people didn’t like the gender swapping it makes sense that Disney would focus more on established female characters that already exist. So I don’t have a problem with this since the X-Men comics have some great female characters to choose from. If they want to put a little more emphasis on characters like Storm, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Kitty and Rogue I’m ok with that. Just don’t completely disregard Gambit, Cyclops, Beast and Wolverine.

Nothing against a female led movie because they have good characters to pick from, but why can't we just get a badass established Cyclops leading a group.

They jammed in Jennifer Lawrence in every scene for the sake of name value when she didn't even want to be in the movies anymore, ff the news is true at least make it feel more natural and less Endgame of loooooook at all the females!

What does "female centric" even mean in this context? The original movie series was Wolverine centric. Jean Grey was the love interest and Storm was kind of just there. If they mean to flesh out those characters I don't think anyone will complain. But they need to steer far clear of whatever they were doing in She Hulk. No girl boss characters, they are oversaturated and annoying.

If you watch the deleted scenes on the X-Men DVD, Halle Berry was originally doing a terrible African accent, so it's possible Storm did more but they cut a lot of it.

Hopefully they cast an African this time.

I remember reading somewhere that Angela Bassett was originally going to be cast as Storm. But because they gave the character less to do, she ended up dropping out. If true, she would have been an amazing Storm.

At this point, what does it even matter? They haven't made a good X-men movie in God knows how long, and the superhero genre in general is dying. If they want to throw their money into an incinerator and go down flailing trying to find a pulse on the MSheU, let 'em.
10 years, almost to-the-date (Days of Future Past premiered 5/10/2014), or 7 years if we're counting Logan.

The X-Men has always had good female characters that were more iconic than most other women in comics (Jean, Storm, Rogue, Psylocke, Emma Frost, Rachael Summers, Shadowcat, etc.), but the male characters were the same way (Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Gambit, Professor X, Cable, Colossus, etc.) if you write things well all the characters will stand out, no need to make any special focus on a certain group. The comics didn't need to make any special focus back in the day as the writers knew how to make everyone feel well rounded and add to the story.

i wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest (assuming this rumor even has merit, & if it does, it is just some cynical culture war fucktard sensationalist rage-porn spin) if what was actually said or implied was that female characters were going to be given proper development & attention, rather than being relegated to plot devices

Why do they keep rebooting x men and telling the same shit story. I been watching that love triangle since I was a little kid.

It could be some clickbait, but lets not forget that this was the company that was prepared to unleash "Snow White and the Seven DEI Representatives", and people thought that was bullshit until some production shots proved it. This is rather mild compared to that, and it's not exactly off brand for current Disney. I mean, they just gave a billion dollar franchise to some ultra feminist lady who has little if any experience directing feature films, let alone $200 million dollar blockbusters.

Did the end up canceling that?

a fair point well taken, but that faction of Disney & the MCU faction are practically their own entities as far as i’m aware. ik a lot of lonely sherdoggers would argue that the MCU is just as bad w/ injecting “forced DEI” into its content, but i honestly don’t think they have the evidence to back up those claims, at least not for the feature movies.
