I want to say that Jamahal goes with a lay n pray strategy to dethrone Alex, and entirely messes everything up for Dana and the UFC

This is going to be a war. I know 300 feels like a letdown because of all the stuff Dana said but I think this is going to be sweet.

The card is completely stacked with the most violent fighters on the roster. I can’t see a way it’s a let down

Alex, hill, Zhang, max, Justin, Charles, Jirí, Kattar, Andrade, lopes, miller, green, fig, cody

Excellent!!! Glad this is unfolding and keeping it active. First thought is Alex but Hill isn't going to be an easy one to walk up.

:meow:

I like Hills chances as he's long and a good grappler. Alex needs to catch him to win imo..

im not saying Hill cant win, but lets get real here....name one professional athlete that came back from an injury like his the same athlete....
every basketball player who has had this injury has returned a worse player except one. dominique wilkins was actually better post injury but he is the only player to ever not have less minutes played, lower field goal %, less ppg, worse on defense, less explosive to the basket. he is an oddity amongst all injured athletes.
100% of every athelte outside of wilkins who has suffered this injury reports of less explosion, sudden deceleration, loss of acceleration, slower turning, a slower quick-twitch, less overall speed, etc.
its like they age ten years.
yes this isnt 1990 and the treatment for his injury has came a long way and you can live a completely normal life, but the althleticism goes with it, add in over a year lay off......
im rooting for jamahal, but statistics are not in hills favor. i love to see people beat the odds. lets hope he is actually 100% but i just dont believe its possible with an injury like his.

Hill is going to grind Pereira all the way to a win. And Sherdog will be crying and people will say Pereira was never really that good.

I question whether he will be "fully healthy" in the first place. He had surgery towards the end of July if I remember right. And if he's not, Pereira is going to hurt him, bad.
i myself have had an injury that will never allow me to be 100%. you are leary the whole time in fear of re-injury. tommy johns surgery is on the same level as ACL surgery. its been 5 years since the surgery, my stability and range of motion i now have is prob around 80% of what it used to be. but yet doctors say i am 100% recovered. mentally i am done. its always in my head that i am overexerting my elbow and i always favor my other arm now. plus, most major injuries dont go over so well being over 30 years of age as an athlete.

When the Ultimate Fighting Championship came calling to offer him a spot atop the promotion’s 300th event, Jamahal Hill jumped at the opportunity.

Hill is set to return to action for the first time since January 2023 when he meets current light heavyweight king Alex Pereira in the UFC 300 main event on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout seemingly came together at the last minute, as it was announced by Dana White at the conclusion of UFC 298 on Saturday night.

“I’m at a loss for words,” Hill said in a backstage interview with the UFC. “For them to have that trust that I could come and show up and put on a main event that’s worthy of a card of this magnitude motivates me and fires me up. It fires my team up. We’re ready to go. The time off has also fired me up. I’m just ready to go. I’m ready to get back in there.

“You always want to be appreciated for your work and the things that you sacrifice,” he added. “That’s all that is them rewarding it and showing their appreciation for it. And showing their belief in me as a fighter, in the personality and who I can be for this company.”

Hill defeated Glover Texeira at UFC 283 in January 2023 to capture the vacant light heavyweight crown. His reign was short-lived, however, as a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in a pickup basketball game forced him to relinquish the belt.

“I haven’t been able to do this for a year,” Hill said. “I’ve been having to sit on the sidelines watching other people live their dream. My dream has been put on hold. So the biggest thing is just taking it all in and appreciating the blessing.”

Hill says he is fully recovered from the injury. Now it’s just a matter of getting in fight shape and preparing to face Pereira in a little less than two months.

“I’ve been back training full speed for the last couple few weeks now. It’s been good,” Hill said. “You’ve got to build your conditioning, your cardio and things back up. For me, mine never falls off too far. It’s just a couple sessions of diving back into it, hard work, and we’re back rolling.”

Pereira has accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time since transitioning to MMA. The former Glory two-division champion was a UFC champion at middleweight before successfully moving to 205 pounds and claiming the strap vacated by Hill with a win over Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 this past November.

“I think he’s a great champion,” Hill said. “He’s been a champion in two different divisions. He’s shown his pedigree and who he is as a combat athlete in both sports. I respect him as an athlete. I respect him as a man, as a father. I’m excited for the challenge. He’s ready to put on a show. He’s not scared. He comes to throw down and that’s exactly what I’m down for.”

While Hill respects Pereira, he is more than confident in his ability to emerge victorious when they square off in the Octagon.

That was a really good, albeit brief, interview.

So much prefer honest, respectful combatants ... who give props but are there to kill come fight-night ... than trash-talking blowhards, who "stick and move" when the cage door closes.

Call me crazy but I've been saying this for a long time, I think this is a terrible stylistic matchup for Poaton. I got Hill by KO within the first 2 rds.
Hill is not super popular so people, imo, drastically unrated his boxing.

Dude has really good hands, he is light on his feet, manages distance well, he is quick.

I think this is a hell of a main event.
Should be a great fight.
