Media Scott Coker Post Bellator Thread

I hope financially he is set. Go enjoy your life, no need to ever be in the shit show world of MMA ever again.

Avatar name checks out... but he's got a point.
keep in mind -- coker had chandler signed to strikeforce originally, and let chandler go to bellator after chandler went 2-0 in strikeforce. that's how great of an eye he has for talent.

Did Handy Couture just reference Coker's bad reputation as a promoter online? Even in sarcasm, it's not a good look lmao.

Also, I wouldn't ever trust Couture's opinion on Scott as a promoter. Dude never fought under Bellator/Strikeforce. He wouldn't be a big name without the UFC.

Didn't Coker get Mousasi, Rockhold, Jacare, Hendo, Yoel, DC for Strikeforce? I'd say he signed some skilled fighters before they became bigger names.

Love him or hate him, Coker took Bellator to the next level. Shame he probably won’t be back in the promoting game again

The story about Dana calling Coker a “very very bad promoter” just came out so he is probably just making a jab at that

Also maybe they are just friends.....don't be a weirdo and turn this into some UFC simp thread

Amazing bringing in talent. Built solid rosters for Strikeforce and Bellator.

Happy that he is doing well, I still believe Coker was held back by all the nonsense of Viacom
Nah, he's just from a different era and wouldn't have been able to keep a big org a float regardless.

What's Hendo doing there? lol. Man already had his Pride and second UFC tenure by the time he went to SF, he was by no means a Coker find.

Same thing with Gegard, he was already a Pride vet, Dream champ and had K-1 fights under his belt. Jacare is iffy because he obviously had his BJJ accolades and, like Gegard, was a main event fighter in Dream.

Think it's better to mention guys like King Mo, Woodley, Larkin, Brunson, etc. rather than guys who had already built a respectable career outside of the US (or even within the US in Hendo's case). Coker and SF found some great talent, but I don't know if I'd call him an amazing scout - the busts have just been lost to time.

In Bellator he found guys like AJ (amazing find), Pico (good but he's taken many bumps), Eblen, Amosov and Nemkov, but a lot of his pet projects failed as well. Aviv Gozali was a bust, his fab five wrestlers amounted to nothing (Trice, Cotton, Fortune, Ruth, Joey Davis), Brennan got derailed recently, Christian Edwards turned out bad, Mowry is very flawed, like all of his Gracie signings were shit except Neiman, etc.

Scott's approach is him willing to take a chance on a prospect regardless of the amount of experience they may have. Sometimes it works out, most of the time it doesn't. This isn't me shitting on the guy, but rather pointing out that he doesn't have the Midas touch.
