LFA 171 Main Event Prediction

Eduardo Neves (7-2) Vs Hugo Cunha (7-1)

Legacy Fighting Alliance is set to make its return to Brazil, and the upcoming event promises to deliver an exciting fight card.

In the main event, two heavyweight contenders with similar records will go head-to-head in a battle for the LFA heavyweight title.

This fight should be quite exciting due to the fact that all of both competitors wins have come via finish.

Eduardo Neves is making a quick turn around after getting knocked out on the Contender Series just two months ago.

It's worth noting that he has shown vulnerability in his two losses, often making critical mistakes that led to his defeat.

Hugo Cunha, on the other hand, has only one loss on his record, which came by way of a split decision in a bout many believed he had won.

Hugo is the older man by 7 years and also taller by 2 inches.

Hugo seems to be the veteran in this matchup and I am siding with him to get the win.

Pick: Hugo Cunha ML (-115)

Gabriel Costa 770 to win 920

Barbosa U1.5 1.5k to win 750

Favor Bekoev slightly. Considering Fernando at current odds.

Pass on Fernando. He has a hard time getting off the fence and, while strong, has bad takedowns. At the same time, Fernando can't resist clinching his opponents. Takedown defense doesn't seem bad but there isn't much in the way of get-ups, nor an active guard. A bit of a turtle. Little ability in ground and pound or in controlling opponents on the mat. Despite his shortcomings on the mat, he does hit very hard and seems to have good - but not fantastic - cardio, in addition to being tall and having a long reach. Jab and kicks are snappy as well.

Funny enough, Fernando seemed more active on the ground and more willing to get up back in 2020, vs Diego Dias.

Bekoev likes striking with his opponents, sometimes to his detriment, and despite a likely rocky start, he should dominate along the stretch more often than not. I'd like something better than @1.50, though.
